* Information on operation
=================================================================================================
------------
1. General
------------
 (1) Be sure to use the current RISO Printer Driver for MZ/MV Series.

 (2) The maximal print quantity of 9,999 can be specified for the RISO printer. Accordingly,
if you specify the print quantity of more than maximum with certain application software,
the specified value will be different from the actually printed quantity. Always specify
the print quantity less than 10,000.

 (3) Extremely-light-color texts and illustrations may not be necessarily reproduced on the
print-out as they should be. If not reproduced as required, use darker colors for color
specification to reproduce them on the print-out.

 (4) When you print document files composed of pages with different sizes or orientations,
you cannot specify all pages as print range in a single print job. Therefore, to print
all pages under the above-mentioned condition, specify the pages with the identical size
and orientation in a print job and perform printing as many times as required.

 (5) When re-installing the printer driver and/or utility software, first uninstall the existing
     ones and restart your computer.

 (6) When you print extremely-light ?colored rules, full lines may turn to dotted lines or
patterns of dashed lines may be printed otherwise. If this happens, change rules to a deep
color or change the kind and/or patterns of lines.

-------------------
2. For Windows user
-------------------
 (1) When you install numbers of RISO Printer Driver for MZ/MV Series in your computer, restart
your computer after installing each driver.

 (2) The version numbers and color print data shown in the [test prints] in the [Properties]
dialog box of the printer driver do not indicate the current configuration of the selected
printer driver but do the general information given by the Microsoft Windows system itself.

 (3) Processed not as the text data but as the image data is the character data over 256 pixel
     (30 points: at 600dpi) for Microsoft Windows(R) 98SE and over 800 pixels
     (96 points: at 600dpi) for Microsoft Windows(R) 2000 and Microsoft Windows(R) XP.
Hence, "Grain-touch", "Screen-covered" and "To solid-look" [Text] of [Image] tab do not
function with reference to such characters.

 (4) When you use a custom paper size, specify paper size and orientation in the [Properties]
dialog box of the printer driver.

 (5) You may not change the settings of the printer driver with some of the application in use.
If you cannot, the print conditions specified in the [Print] dialog box may not be reflected
in the settings of printer drivers in certain application software programs, thus causing
unexpected print results. In that case, specify the same settings print conditions as given
in the [Print] dialog box of the application software program with those concerned in the
[Properties] dialog box of the corresponding printer driver.

 (6) Unevenness of density may sometimes be seen in a part of photographs or illustrations when
the RISO-PHOTO-PRINT Fine Mode has been specified as "ON". In that case, reduce the number
of Frequency specified in the "Screen covered" in the [Image] tab.
This problem may be lessened if you open the [Properties] in the printer driver, set
[RISO-PHOTO-PRINT Fine Mode] in the [Image] tab to "OFF", and set [Tone Level] to
[Specified as], for printing, or if bitmap printing is selected at the time of printing with
an application provided with the function to output the original as a whole in bitmap.

---------------------
3. For Macintosh user
---------------------
 (1) When re-installing the printer driver and/or utility software, uninstall the existing ones
first and restart your computer after re-installation.

 (2) Image disorder such as insertion of the noise in a block form may occur at the part where
the color of gradation, etc, turn to light color when the [Original] is set to the [Photo]
in the [Coloring] and the [RISO-PHOTO-PRINT Fine Mode] in the [Photo processing] is set to
"ON". If this disorder takes place, perform printing with the [RISO-PHOTO-PRINT Fine Mode]
     set to "OFF".

=================================================================================================
* Identified defects on printer drivers
=================================================================================================
-------------
1. General
------------
 (1) Contact your local RISO service representative for the detailed information about the defects
described below or the actions to be taken against them.

 (2) When you enter the measurements of paper sizes, select the unit of measurement (mm or inch)
     first.

 (3) Dotted frame lines may not be reproduced on the print-out with certain application software
programs. In that case, use another type of frame lines such as bold dotted lines, broken
     lines and solid lines.

 (4) The current file name may not be acquired as ID name for the storage data in certain application
software programs. In this case, open the [Storage tag] dialog box and specify the ID name by
yourself. When no ID name is acquired or specified, "JOB-## (sequential number)" will be assigned
as job name on the RISO printer.

--------------------
2. For Windows user
--------------------
 (1) Documents may not be printed correctly with certain application software programs, if they
     contain certain image data.

 (2) When the [Apply] button is available in the current dialog box or tab, always click on it
to refresh the configuration data. Otherwise, the new configuration may be cancelled when
you close the dialog box or tab concerned.

 (3) The decoration patterns shown on the computer display such as paint, graphic screen and text
screen may appear differently when applied on the print-out.

 (4) When you select "AUTO"as tone level for high-contrast photo images in the [Image] tab,
the contrast may be much higher than expected on the print-out. In that case,
specify a desired tone level according to the contrast of the original photo.

 (5) In Adobe(R) PageMaker(R), photo images pasted in a page may sometimes be printed in a different
density compared to what is printed alone. In that case, perform either of the followings:
Specify the RISO-PHOTO-PRINT Fine Mode as "OFF" and also the tone level as "Specified as"
or use the function [Insert object] in [Edit] of Adobe PageMaker to add the photo image to the
page to print, instead of just pasting it.

 (6) Some objects which have the background with a hatch pattern may sometimes have a different
pattern inserted in the original hatch pattern when printed. In that case, change the hatch
pattern to the other decoration style than hatchings.

 (7) A page printed by Adobe Illustrator(R) which contains
illustrations or photographs overlap on another photograph may sometimes have extremely
dissimilar densities among those layered images. In that case, specify the RISO-PHOTO-PRINT
Fine Mode as "OFF" and also the tone level as "Specified as" before printing it.

 (8) In Microsoft Office, some objects layered under a translucent object may
sometimes have a part painted out with white or black.

 (9) There may be a case where the color of the overlapped part of the original, for which a
half-transparent illustration is placed on a photo, turns black or white if it is set to print
the illustration in two colors and the photo in one color.

----------------------
3. For Macintosh user
----------------------
 (1) If printing is performed after the [Color information] set in the printer is automatically
or manually obtained, the obtained color of the ink is not automatically registered in the
[Print Color Entry] in the [Configuration]. If the registration is required, close the
[Properties] screen once or execute the [Print Color Entry] manually.

=================================================================================================
* Restrictions on application software
=================================================================================================
---------------------
1. General
---------------------

---------------------
2. For Windows user
---------------------
 (1) The image objects (graphics, clipart or OLE objects) placed behind text data in Microsoft
Word 97 or Microsoft Word 98 may be brought in front of the text data on the print-out,
while they remain behind in the print preview on the screen. This problem can be avoided
by entering texts or spaces in the header or footer section.

For details, refer to the Microsoft web site.

 (2) When you specify more than one copy while selecting a multi-page (N-up) pattern as page layout
in the [Print] dialog box on Microsoft Word 2000 or Microsoft Word2002, copies may be produced
in a wrong numberor page frames may overlap on the print-out. In that case, specify only one copy
for this type of print job and repeat the same job as many times as required to produce a desired
     number of copies.

For details, refer to the Microsoft web site.

 (3) When an error occurs at the time of printing of the data from Microsoft Visio(R) 2000 or
Microsoft Visio 2002, recovery from the error may be made possible with changing the spool
data format to the RAW format.
For Windows 2000/XP: Proceed as [Advanced]-[Print Processor]-[Default data type] in the
                          properties for the printer
For windows 98SE : Proceed as [Details]-[Spool Settings]-[Spool data format] in the
                          properties for the printer

For details, refer to the Microsoft web site.

 (4) When you insert image data into your documents by the [Place] option on the Adobe PageMaker,
the image data may be erased from the original folder or the link information of the inserted
image data will be lost if moving to another folder. If printed out with the link information
lost, the inserted images may not be correctly reproduced on the print-out. To prevent this
problem, acquire the current link information of the image data concerned when it is requested
while opening your documents on the Adobe PageMaker.

 (5) Note that there are some application software programs with in which the collating option remains
active in any print job, thus causing RISO printers to make a master for each printed copy.

 (6) PDF documents made by Adobe Acrobat(R) Distiller 5.0 or below may not be printed in best condition
when it is printed in Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0. In that case, turn off "Shrink oversized pages
to paper size" in the Print menu of Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0. To check the version of Adobe Acrobat
Distiller which made the document, open the document file in Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0, choose
[File] -> [Document Properties] -> [Summary] and refer to "Producer" among the "Document Summary"
     items shown there.

 (7) When a file with the size other than A4 is opened in Microsoft Word and the [Output Paper] is
set to be other than the [Same as original], zooming up and down may not be performed as specified.
In such a case, the trouble may be prevented with the procedures described below:
Open the [Print] dialog box once and close the dialog box after the [Properties] of the printer
driver is set; reopen the [Print] dialog box, open the [Properties] of the printer driver,
and perform printing after pressing down the [OK] button.

For details, refer to the Microsoft web site.

 (8) Adobe PageMaker, there might be a case the right and bottom edges of the original are took in
about 2 mm even though the [Margin-plus] is set to ON. This case may be prevented with the
     procedures below.

     1. Open the [Print] dialog box, open the [Properties] of the printer, set the [Margin-plus] to
ON, and close the setting screen of the RISO Printer Driver.

     2. Press the [SHIFT] key with the [Print] dialog box in Adobe PageMaker displayed to turn the
[Print] button to the[finish] button, and press the [finish] button to close the dialog box.

     3. Reopen the [Print] dialog box to perform printing.

 (9) In Adobe In Design(R), when printing is performed with combination of the original with the short
side at the top, longer side at the top printing, paper with the shorter side at the top and with
being set to [Multi-up(Plural)], the order of imposition differs from the one set with the
[Properties] in the printer driver because the combination is processed as the original with the
shorter side at the top, shorter side at the top printing, paper with the shorter side at the top.

 (10) In Microsoft Word, the image may be in disorder when the original with no less than 8 pages
is printed or no printing is performed even after the file is output. In such a case, you may
recover from the trouble with the following procedure; open the dialog box for printing once and
close it after setting the properties for the printer driver; reopen the dialog box for printing,
open the properties for the printer driver and then perform printing after pressing down the
      [OK] button.

 (11) Displayed patterns or texture are not identical with those on printed matters in some cases.

For details, refer to the Microsoft web site.

-----------------------
3. For Macintosh user
-----------------------

 (1) In AppleWorks(R), there may be a case where part of the image is not printed or the image is
     in disorder.

 (2) If the paper size no more than the maximum paper size is entered for registration of the
custom paper , paper selection changes to the standard paper whose size is approximate, in the
standard paper list, to that of the registered custom paper.

 (3) If the paper size no less than the maximum paper size is entered for registration of the custom
paper, paper selection changes to the standard paper at the bottom of the standard paper list.

 (4) If the paper size equivalent to the maximum paper size is entered for registration of the custom
paper, the printing job with use of the custom paper stops at at the spooler.

 (5) In MicrosoftWord, the entry with the key board may become inactive when the [Print setting]
     dialog box is selected.

For details, refer to the Microsoft web site.

 (6) You may not cancel printing with use of Microsoft Word.

For details, refer to the Microsoft web site.

 (7) Only one copy may be printed even though the number of copies is set other than one with use
     of Microsoft Excel.

For details, refer to the Microsoft web site.
